Bremen lies in the heart of north-west Germany. Whether you travel by car, bus, train or plane, Bremen is easy to get to.
Arriving by coach:
Coaches with a total height of over 360cm that are travelling to the city centre are advised to exit the A1 autobahn at Bremen-Brinkum, Bremen-Arsten or Bremen-Hemelingen. This route to the city centre avoids underpasses. Please note our information on Bremen’s low-emission zone. There is a state-of-the-art traffic management system in the city centre.
Arriving by plane:
In terms of its proximity to the city centre, Bremen Airport is hard to beat. The distance from the airport to the centre of Bremen is only 3.5 kilometres. The city centre is only nine minutes by tram from the airport. Bremen’s international airport offers direct flights to many destinations and the main German and European hubs.
Arriving by train:
InterCityExpress (IC), InterCity/EuroCity (IC/EC) and RegionalExpress (RE) services take you to the city centre station, one of the most modern in Germany. BSAG bus and tram services run from the square outside the station. From the BSAG customer centre, which is also on the square, it is a ten-minute walk or a five-minute bus or tram ride to the market square. From the station’s north exit, it only takes about three minutes to walk to the exhibition and conference centre and the ÖVB Arena (Bremen Arena).
